Empty Container Management Issues

The Victorian Transport Association (VTA) and Shipping Australia limited (SAL) jointly hosted a meeting of industry and government stakeholders on Wednesday, 10th March 2010 to discuss empty container management issues associated with trade through the Port of Melbourne.

Stakeholders in the container transport chain, with the support of the Port of Melbourne Corporation (PoMC), agreed to form two working groups to discuss empty container management information technology and park operations.

VTA Logistics Cadetship

The VTA is pleased to annouce the launch of its LOGISTICS CADETSHIPS starting in January 2012.

The VTA Logistics Cadetship is an ideal succession plan for your business. The Cadetship program helps companies to recruit (internal or external) young people aged 18-25 to work in your business whilst completing a Certificate IV in Logistics and a Diploma of Logistics.

The Cadetship is a two year program, cadets attend eight, one week blocks of training each year, conducted at TAFE. Training is completed by workplace assignments and assessments. Cadets are rotated through different areas of the business and each cadet is assigned a workplace mentor.
